Holy & Alive is a celebration of life and the tension of survival. I want this to serve as a reminder, a hymn, something to say to yourself, your kin, to strangers, in a moment of praise, in a moment of despair - HOLY AND ALIVE I AM, HOLY AND ALIVE YOU ARE! As you are, as you arrived, as you become, as you depart, in all forms you are divine. It is no small feat that you are still here. So, this is a mantra for you and for myself - may we allow ourselves to take up space, to disappear, to grow and fall apart. This too is an invitation to dream, to know that your imagination is worthy of exploration and tending. May we build community that is rooted in more than shared vices, one that is keen to witness the gravity and beauty of what it means to be alive in all of its intricacy.
Holy & Alive Lyric Video, to be released in the coming weeks.
This is a visual collage of protests that Amyra organized/attended throughout 2020, 1960’s headlines, Amyra’s MRI Brain scans, Barbados, and excerpts of the live performance in which Holy & Alive was first improvised! This is a simple invitation into the beauty and tension that exists in all things that highlights the cycles we often find ourselves in as individuals and as a society.
